On 3 September 2002, a total of 81 Sec 1 and Sec 2 students went on an educational tour to Kukup. The teachers-in-charge are Mrs Florence Lee, Ms Low Ah Mai, Mrs Lily Lee and Mrs Devan. Our first stop at the Pewter factory.The tin, copper and antimony are melted and cast in a mould. After filing, the components are soldered together and then polished. There are 11 workers and the process of making the pewter wares is very labour-intensive. Carina, our guide, explaining to the students about the origin of pewter and the making of the pewter wares. There was a display of the alloy used and the pewter wares. The alloys are melted and casted in a mould. After casting, the worker trim away the unwanted portion. Finally, the final product would be polished.
